Green Tea Matcha Latte
A drop of honey balances the bitterness of the matcha in this recipe. For a nondairy latte, replace the unsweetened almond, soy or coconut milk for the low fat milk.
o ¼ cup of boiling water
o 1 teaspoon matcha tea powder
o 1 cup low-fat milk
o 1 teaspoon honey
Directions – Blend boiling water with matcha powder in a blender. Blend until foamy. Heat milk with honey until almost boiling. Vigorously whisk the milk until frothy. Pour the milk into the mug, then pour in the tea.
Turmeric Latte
Studies show the tremendous health benefits of turmeric. It is particularly known for reducing
inflammation. Try this vegan turmeric “latte” made from steamed milk and sweetened with a
touch of maple syrup.
o 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
o 1 tablespoon of fresh grated turmeric
o 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup or honey
o 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
o Pinch of black pepper
o Pinch of cinnamon
Directions – Combine milk, turmeric, maple syrup or honey, ginger and pepper in a blender.
Blend on high until smooth, about 1 minute. Pour into a sauce pan and heat over medium heat
until steaming hot but not boiling. Transfer to a mug. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Spinach & Avocado Smoothie
This green smoothie gets super creamy from the frozen banana and avocado. Make this smoothie in advance and store in your fridge until you need a boost.
o 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt
o 1 cup fresh spinach
o 1 frozen banana
o ¼ avocado
o 2 tablespoons water
o 1 teaspoon honey
Directions – Combine all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth.
Herbal Chamomile Tea
This tea is packed with immunity-boosting ingredients, this tea helps especially when you’re sick. Serve hot or cold.
o 4 cups boiling water
o 6 bags chamomile tea
o 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
o 4 slices of lemon
o 2-4 teaspoons honey
o 2 sprigs rosemary
Directions – stir boiling water, tea bags, ginger, lemon, honey and rosemary together in a large heatproof bowl. Steep for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain the liquid through a fine mesh cloth and press the tea bags to get as much liquid our as possible.
Elderberry Tea
Containing just 3 ingredients this warm and soothing drink made from inky purple berried from the Sambucus tree is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and lots of immune-boosting compounds.
o 3 cups water
o ¾ cup of elderberry’s
o 2 Cinnamon sticks
Directions – Add all ingredients to a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Once cool strain through a fine mesh strainer. Optional: add a drop of honey to add some sweetness.
